THINKING THE FUTURE WITH LOGIC AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCES

The 2026 Triennial Conference of the Italian Society for Logic and the Philosophy of Sciences (SILFS): “Thinking the Future with Logic and the Philosophy of Sciences” will be held at the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia 29 June – 2 July 2026.

The conference language is English.

Submissions:

We welcome submissions of abstracts of: 1) papers and 2) symposia in all the conference areas (see below) from both early career and senior scholars.

Submissions can only be made through Microsoft CMT (link: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/SILFSTRI2026/).

A. Proposals for contributed papers must include:


  1) a title and short abstract of max 500 characters (spaces not included)

  2) at least 3 keywords 

  3) long abstract of max 3000 characters (references and spaces not included) to be uploaded separately as a single .pdf file (max size 50MB)

Each accepted contribution will be assigned a 20-minute slot, plus 10 minutes for Q&A.


B. Proposals for contributed symposia must include:


  1) a title and short abstract describing the planned interventions (max 300 characters for each intervention, spaces not included) 

  2) at least 3 keywords

  3) the names and emails of the affiliated symposium organisers and speakers, a title and a 1-2 page description of the purpose and scope of the symposium, to be uploaded separately as a single .pdf file (max size 50MB).  



Symposia will run in parallel with conference talks. Each symposium will be assigned a full 2-hour session (3-4 speakers) or half a day (6-7 speakers).  


The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2026.

The conference will take place at the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, located in: Palazzo del Broletto, Piazza della Vittoria 15, 27100 Pavia.

Proceedings:

A selection of the papers presented at the conference and at the symposia will be published in a dedicated College Publications – SILFS Series (https://www.collegepublications.co.uk/silfs/) volume.
